No. 10: Top 10 list of my Kid’s favorite Cakes and Desserts

Isai's Pastillas de Leche

Pastillas de Leche - Thank you Isai for always helping Mommy prepare this Dessert

Pastillas are a no-cooking and heating dessert and are great to eat any time of the day. By the way, authentic pastillas recipes require fresh carabao milk and cooking, while the best pastillas are from Laguna, San Miguel, and Bulacan. The recipe below is the simplest version as I just use powdered milk instead of fresh milk.

Isai's Pastillas de Leche

Ingredients:

You will need a mixing bowl, spatula, tray, and container or Jar,

plus the ingredients:

  • 2 cups powdered milk, sifted

  • 1 can (14 ounces) condensed milk

  • ½ cup granulated sugar, sifted

Directions:

1. In large a mixing bowl, pour the condensed milk.

2. Fold-in gradually the milk until the texture of the mixture is similar to the dough and all powdered milk is completely mixed. We always wait at least 30 minutes to let the milk powder absorb the condensed milk, the texture looks like one full dough.

3. Get a teaspoon of the mixture and roll it into your palm to a round shape.

4. Once it becomes a round shape, roll pastillas on granulated sugar.

5. Serve for dessert.

Note: I put it in an air-tight jar to preserve the sugar, especially during summer, and store it at room temperature. Usually, it only lasts 3 days because my kids cannot stop eating.

Please try this dessert that surely the kids will love, and share your comments with us. Enjoy!
